About The Position
The Waste Water Operator 1 controls water flows and processes through plant equipment and biological systems. The role performs tests and maintenance to ensure proper operation of wastewater-related equipment and carries out other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities at any time.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of prior experience in a rendering facility or production environment.
- Willingness to obtain a wastewater certificate.
Nice To Haves
- Self-starter who stays busy with constructive work with little supervision.
- Good with math.
- Good oral communication skills.
- Good penmanship.
Responsibilities
- Properly operate the evaporator and plant skimmer.
- Manage chemical inventory and add chemicals throughout wastewater treatment processes, applying chemicals to sustain a minimum of a 24-hour period.
- Perform wastewater tests as needed.
- Properly operate the DAF and control flows throughout wastewater treatment processes.
- Clean foot valves and flow meters at pump stations daily.
- Monitor MBBRs, aerators, and mixers.
- Service and lubricate pumps and gearboxes as needed.
- Assist maintenance with projects or work in the area of responsibility.
- Properly operate the disinfection system, scrubbers and ancillary equipment, and cooling towers.
- Dump a container of grease solids using a forklift.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.
