About The Position

The Wastewater Operator controls water flows and processes through plant equipment and biological systems. The role performs tests and maintenance to ensure proper operation of wastewater-related equipment and carries out other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities at any time.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 1 year of prior experience in a rendering facility or production environment.
• Willingness to obtain a wastewater certificate.

• Good oral communication skills.
• Good penmanship.

Responsibilities

• Operate the evaporator properly.
• Operate the plant skimmer properly.
• Maintain chemical inventory and add chemicals throughout wastewater treatment processes.
• Perform wastewater tests as needed.
• Operate the DAF properly.
• Control flows throughout wastewater treatment processes.
• Clean foot valves and flow meters at pump stations daily.
• Monitor MBBRs.
• Service and lubricate pumps and gearboxes as needed.
• Assist maintenance with projects or work in the area of responsibility.
• Monitor aerators and mixers.
• Operate the disinfection system properly.
• Operate all scrubbers and ancillary equipment properly.
• Operate cooling towers properly.
• Apply chemicals to sustain a minimum of a 24-hour period.
• Dump a container of grease solids using a forklift.
