About The Position
Greenwood Lake Animal Hospital is hiring a full-time Certified Veterinary Technician or Experienced Veterinary Technician to provide skilled patient care and exceptional client service. The ideal candidate has experience in animal care, client communication, and veterinary procedures, along with a passion for improving the lives of pets and their owners. The role averages 35 hours per week, with three 10-hour shifts scheduled Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM, and every other Saturday from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Greenwood Lake Animal Hospital is a full-service veterinary practice serving Hewitt, NJ, and surrounding communities. The hospital provides care ranging from wellness exams and diagnostics to surgery and advanced treatments, in a clean, modern facility. The practice emphasizes compassionate care, lasting relationships with pet owners, and an inclusive culture that celebrates diversity.
Requirements
- Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
- Knowledge of common disease states and ability to alert veterinarians to changes in patient conditions.
- Familiarity with DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines.
Nice To Haves
- Certified Veterinary Technician certification in New Jersey is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Support veterinarians with patient care, examinations, surgery, anesthesia, and recovery.
- Safely and compassionately handle and restrain animals.
- Communicate clearly with clients, including providing care instructions and status updates.
- Perform technical duties such as laboratory work, radiographs, injections, and IV catheter placement.
- Maintain accurate medical records and assist with medication dispensing.
- Keep examination rooms, treatment areas, and equipment clean, stocked, and ready.
- Follow hospital, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
