About The Position

Requirements

• At least 1 year of clinic experience as a veterinary assistant.
• High school diploma.
• Friendly, outgoing, people-oriented, and self-motivated team player.
• Attentive to detail, effective in oral and written communication, and demonstrates strong technical skills.
• Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays; night and weekend shift availability is required.
• Frequently lift 40 pounds and frequently stand, walk, and climb stairs.
• Able to use a computer system and multi-line telephone.
• Able to handle dogs on leashes and comfortably restrain animals during medical examinations.
• Able to work around disinfectant and sanitation chemicals, animal dander, and animal excretions.

Responsibilities

• Help clients and pets feel welcome and comfortable.
• Assist veterinarians in providing compassionate nursing care.
• Clean, maintain, and prepare surgical instruments and equipment.
• Maintain accurate medical records.
• Fill prescriptions as directed by a veterinarian and explain prescription directions.
• Assist receptionists with check-in and checkout procedures and provide telephone support.
• Perform laboratory tests.
• Keep facilities clean and well maintained.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
