Veterinary Assistant
About The Position
Countryside Veterinary Hospital is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff to provide quality animal care and customer service. The role involves assisting with examinations, treatments, and surgeries; caring for animals; maintaining a clean and sanitary clinic; and communicating with pet owners about care and follow-up visits. This position is full-time, with four 8–10-hour shifts per week, Monday through Friday. The typical schedule includes two shifts from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM and two shifts from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Pay is $15.00–$17.00 per hour, based on skills, experience, and qualifications. Requirements
- At least 1 year of veterinary experience.
- Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
- Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
- Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
- Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
- Perform basic laboratory tests, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
- Administer medications and vaccinations under a veterinarian’s supervision.
- Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
- Maintain accurate medical records.
- Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits.
- Clean and maintain the clinic, stock supplies, and ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
