About The Position

Maplewood Veterinary Center is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work alongside experienced veterinarians, skilled technicians, and support staff to ensure animals receive high-quality care during their stay. The role supports the center’s focus on compassionate, preventative, and wellness care, as well as friendly customer service. The center describes its goal as providing a welcoming environment that enhances the human-animal bond and serving the community inclusively. The position is full-time, four days per week, Monday through Friday, from 7:15 AM to 5:00 PM, with a one-hour lunch break. No weekend hours are required. The stated salary is $17–$20 per hour, depending on the candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications.

Requirements

At least 1 year of veterinary experience.
Surgical experience.
Technical know-how in disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
Perform basic laboratory tests, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
Administer medications and vaccinations under a veterinarian’s supervision.
Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
Maintain accurate medical records.
Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits.
Clean and maintain the clinic, stock supplies, and help ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
