About The Position

Antigua Veterinary Practice is hiring a full-time Veterinary Technician/Assistant to work with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to provide high-quality animal care and customer service. The role involves assisting with examinations, treatments, and surgeries; animal handling and care; basic laboratory work; medication administration under veterinary supervision; maintaining records and clinical areas; and communicating with pet owners. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with rotating Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Pay is $17–$18 per hour, based on experience and skillset. Antigua Veterinary Practice is located in Historic Uptown St. Augustine and has served pets and their families since 1979. The practice describes its mission as providing compassionate, expert veterinary care in a welcoming environment, using current veterinary technology and medical advances.

Requirements

Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary setting.
Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
Perform basic laboratory tasks, including collecting blood, urine, and stool samples.
Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of a veterinarian.
Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed.
Maintain accurate medical records.
Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits.
Clean and maintain the clinic, stock supplies, and help ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
