About The Position

Meritus Health is actively seeking an Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner to join their growing Urgent Care team. This is a fast-paced, patient-centered role where the practitioner will provide high-quality care for acute walk-in conditions and perform minor procedures such as suturing, fracture care/splinting, and incision & drainage (I&D). The ideal candidate is a confident, skilled clinician who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about compassionate, evidence-based care. Meritus Health is launching the Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine in fall 2025, with new residency programs coming soon, creating exciting teaching and professional development opportunities. Located in Hagerstown, Maryland, the area offers rich history, outdoor recreation, cultural attractions, and easy access to Baltimore and Washington, DC. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Nursing required
  • Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Five years of experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Active Maryland Nurse Practitioner license
  • Current DEA registration and CDS permit
  • Current BLS (AHA) required
  • ACLS required (PALS if applicable)
  • Strong critical thinking and clinical competence
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across all disciplines
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in coding (ICD-10 & CPT) or commitment to learn
  • Knowledge of case management and managed care

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate in Nursing preferred
  • One year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred
  • Proficiency in EHR (EPIC preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Manage a wide variety of acute urgent care cases
  • Perform minor office procedures including suturing, splinting, and I&D
  • Deliver empathetic, respectful, and responsive patient care
  • Utilize evidence-based practices and advanced technology
  • Collaborate with patients and the care team to support informed decision-making
  • Maintain accurate documentation and proficiency in EHR (EPIC preferred)
