About The Position

This position involves performing routine assistive tasks to support Registered Nurses in meeting basic patient needs. It is an unlicensed assistive personnel role within Prisma Health, the largest not-for-profit health organization in South Carolina. Requirements

  • Completion of a Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Tech, Medical Assistant or Nursing Fundamentals course.
  • Candidates must successfully complete the Prisma Health unit secretary course and training within 90 days of hire.
  • Current or former CNA certification (may be accepted in lieu of school verification of a nursing assistant training course).
  • Current or former CMA certification (may be accepted in lieu of school verification of a medical assistant training course).

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous nursing assistant, medical assistant or related experience preferred.
  • One year hospital clerical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the patient with needs associated with personal hygiene.
  • Assists patients with needs related to nutrition and feeding.
  • Assists patients with needs related to ambulation.
  • Meets patients' needs related to elimination.
  • Accurately monitors inputs and outputs.
  • Completes and documents patient vital signs.
  • Reports abnormal values to the registered nurse.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
