About The Position

The Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) at Washington State University's College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a VTH Technical Staff Supervisor. This role is crucial for leading and supporting all technical staff operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compliant patient care. The supervisor will oversee veterinary technicians, veterinary technician assistants, and dosimetrists/radiation therapists, maintaining consistent standards of excellence. Responsibilities include developing, maintaining, and sharing VTH policies and procedures, actively participating in overall hospital operations with a focus on strategic goals, recruitment, onboarding, training, mentoring, and fostering a positive, efficient hospital culture. The position serves as a liaison between technical staff and administration, utilizing leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills to promote collaboration, continuous improvement, and excellence in a service-oriented teaching hospital.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Business or medical-related field) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five (5) years of progressive responsibility in a related field.
  • At least three (3) years of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of hospital operations processes.
  • Knowledge of veterinary or human medicine terms, procedures, laws, and regulations.
  • Experience working in a veterinary or human medical hospital in a leadership position.
  • Database management system experience (e.g., Microsoft Access).
  • Proficiency in practice management and electronic medical record systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support all technical staff operations within the WSU VTH.
  • Oversee veterinary technicians, veterinary technician assistants, and dosimetrists/radiation therapists.
  • Ensure consistent standards of excellence across the hospital.
  • Develop, maintain, and share VTH policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in overall hospital operations, focusing on strategic goals.
  • Manage recruitment, onboarding, training, and mentoring of technical staff.
  • Foster a positive and efficient hospital culture.
  • Serve as a liaison between technical staff and administration.
  • Support collaboration, drive continuous improvement, and promote excellence.
