About The Position

The Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) is seeking a Child Welfare Supervisor to join their Child Welfare team in Bogalusa, Louisiana, located in the Washington Parish Office. This role is crucial in upholding the department's mission to keep children safe, assist families in becoming self-sufficient, and provide refuge during disasters. The department values treating all people with dignity, compassion, and respect, while providing services with integrity. This position offers an opportunity to drive excellence within the Office to the Secretary and make a significant impact.

Requirements

  • Six years of experience in child welfare; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in child welfare; OR A bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience in child welfare; OR An advanced degree in a social science or behavioral health field, nursing, or a juris doctorate plus two years of experience in child welfare.
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A current driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.
  • The incumbent of this position must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15.587.1 (c).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for specialized supervision of staff assigned in the Foster Care Program.
  • Assigning cases, assisting workers with on-going risk assessments and determinations of child safety.
  • Locate placement resources; accompanying workers in the field, home visits, court appearances and provide case consultation for workers when necessary.
  • Respond to court orders/inquires/requests from judges, attorneys and other court personnel.
  • Provide on-going training for staff.
  • Create a positive environment that promotes productivity in a safe comfortable, clean and well- organized workplace.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
