About The Position

The Family Engagement & Student Support Specialist fosters strong partnerships between the school and families to support and improve student academic success. This role focuses on empowering families to actively participate in their child’s education, strengthening their capacity to support learning at home and school. The specialist also ensures families have the information and resources they need to make well-informed decisions about their child’s education and overall development.

Requirements

  • Proficiency Skills: oral and written communication, leadership, planning and organization, public relations, customer service, public speaking.
  • Ability to work comfortably and collaboratively with school staff, families, and community.
  • Experience working with adults and children
  • Experience in a school setting
  • Personable, cooperative, team player.
  • Experience collaborating with families and assisting students.
  • Leadership and problem solving skills
  • Decision making and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including weekly parent newsletters.
  • Ability to work with others in a cooperative and flexible manner.
  • Accurate preparation, proofreading, and managing on required reports in a timely manner
  • Exceptional customer service- open houses and events, daily greetings, regular family contact
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Must demonstrate foundational professionalism, including consistent attendance, punctuality, adherence to school policies and procedures, and strong employability skills.
  • Must be Self motivated and creative.

  • Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor student attendance and partner with families and school to address barriers.
  • Serve as a school parent liaison.
  • Link families to community resources.
  • Develop family activities to increase student achievement.
  • Facilitate the implementation of best practices for family engagement.
  • Serve as the key support resource for engaging families.
  • Ability to establish weekly and monthly schedules and complete goals on time
  • Increase English Language Arts ILEARN Scores
  • Increase Math ILEARN Scores
  • Improve student attendance
