About The Position
The Teradyne Integrated System Test (IST) Software team is seeking an Embedded Software Engineering Manager to lead a team developing software for advanced test platforms. The manager provides technical and people leadership to software engineers and contractors and partners with hardware engineers and managers, product managers, and engineering leaders to deliver reliable, high-performance software for semiconductor test systems. The role guides technical direction, supports team members’ professional growth, drives engineering execution, and fosters a collaborative, high-performing culture. It is suited to an experienced embedded software engineer or manager interested in developing people, processes, and tools and growing as a leader. The position is based in North Reading, Massachusetts, with a requirement to work from the office at least three days per week.
Requirements
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues, project status, and risks clearly to team members and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated technical leadership through mentoring, project leadership, architecture ownership, or leading cross-functional initiatives.
- Experience implementing Agile software development practices, including story planning, estimation, bug tracking, release planning, and sprint retrospectives.
- Proficiency in C and C++ software development for embedded applications.
- Availability to work from the North Reading, Massachusetts office at least three days per week.
- Experience applying AI-assisted tools to software engineering workflows.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python for automation.
- Experience managing embedded software engineers.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop software engineers and contractors, fostering collaboration, accountability, continuous learning, and technical excellence.
- Guide software development for Linux-based embedded systems implemented primarily in C and C++.
- Communicate project status, risks, dependencies, and technical challenges to stakeholders and leadership.
- Drive Agile development practices, including epic planning, sprint execution, release planning, and continuous improvement.
- Improve software quality and team productivity through modern software development practices and AI-assisted engineering tools.
