About The Position

Dominion Energy is seeking a Software Engineer to build medium complexity applications, ensuring code follows the latest coding practices and industry standards. The role involves working closely with other software engineers and team members to understand systems end-to-end, performing system analysis, and analyzing, designing, configuring, and developing business logic and backend systems. The engineer will complete work to implement features from the product backlog, collaborate with Product/Business Owners to understand stories and requirements, and size/estimate user stories. Responsibilities include performing unit testing, executing all testing activities, and automating test cases where applicable. The role also requires creating project and product artifacts, including support documentation, and ensuring features meet business needs. A key aspect of this role is utilizing AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot and Microsoft Copilot) to support software development, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting, while ensuring solutions meet quality, security, and compliance requirements. Collaboration with infrastructure, security, and other partners is essential, as is aligning solutions with enterprise architecture standards in conjunction with Portfolio Architects. Communication with Product/Business Owners, Engineering Leads, UI/UX Designers, or Scrum Masters/Project Managers is necessary to ensure timely delivery of stories/tasks. The role also includes ongoing product maintenance, resolving issues (e.g., break/fix) as support requests arise, and mentoring less experienced team members.

Requirements

  • 2-3+ years of in-depth experience in programming or systems analysis desired.
  • Experience in adapting and applying rapidly-changing technology to business needs.
  • Familiarity with generative AI concepts and AI-assisted development tools, with the ability to effectively and responsibly use AI to improve software engineering productivity.

Responsibilities
