MTS 2, Software Engineer
About The Position
eBay, Inc. is hiring an MTS 2 Software Engineer in San Jose, California. The role is responsible for architecting and leading the development of scalable software applications and components capable of processing billions of requests across multiple teams while meeting strict SLA requirements. The engineer will collaborate across teams on SEO strategies, improve crawl efficiency and discoverability, and help eBay’s valuable pages achieve visibility in search results. The position also involves building RESTful services and SEO technologies, including optimizing robots.txt, sitemaps.xml, and metadata. The engineer provides technical leadership and mentorship, promotes maintainable software practices, and establishes coding and documentation standards. Partial telecommuting is permitted from within a commutable distance. The schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
- Five years of server-side development experience in Java.
- Five years of experience with the Spring Framework.
- Five years of experience with RESTful services.
- Five years of experience with object-oriented design and design patterns.
- Three years of experience with Agile development methodologies.
- Three years of experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Three years of experience with multi-threading development.
- One year of experience with JavaScript.
- One year of experience with React.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Responsibilities
- Architect and lead the development of scalable software applications and components that process billions of requests while meeting strict SLA requirements.
- Collaborate with multiple teams to develop and implement SEO strategies that improve the visibility and ranking of eBay pages.
- Use SEO crawl-efficiency expertise to improve website discoverability and indexing.
- Guide cross-functional teams in software development best practices and ensure integration with backend systems and alignment with business objectives.
- Create and deploy RESTful services and SEO technologies, including optimization of robots.txt, sitemaps.xml, and metadata.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship, promoting Java, the Spring framework, object-oriented design, and design patterns.
- Establish and enforce coding standards and documentation practices across teams.
