About The Position
Freedom Behavioral Hospital of Greenville is seeking a dependable and professional Security Guard to ensure the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors. This role is critical in maintaining a secure healthcare environment, particularly within a behavioral health setting. The Security Guard conducts routine patrols, monitors facility activity, responds to emergencies, and utilizes de-escalation techniques to manage conflicts safely and professionally.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Prior experience in law enforcement, corrections, or security preferred
- Experience in healthcare or behavioral health setting is a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm in high-stress situations
- Conflict resolution and de-escalation skills
- Attention to detail and strong observational skills
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Basic computer proficiency
- Valid government-issued ID
- CPR Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
- Behavioral Management Training (provided if needed)
- TB test required upon hire and annually
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods (60–80% of shift)
- Ability to lift at least 10 lbs
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
- Must be able to hear alarms and communicate effectively
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine patrols of hospital grounds and interior units
- Monitor and enforce safety and security procedures
- Respond promptly to emergencies and incidents
- Utilize de-escalation and conflict resolution techniques
- Assist with visitor access control and patient visitation processes
- Document incidents, suspicious activity, and safety concerns
- Collaborate with staff, leadership, and external emergency personnel
- Support a culture of safety and quality across the facility
- Maintain visible presence on units to assist with behavioral management
- Perform all other duties as assigned
