About The Position

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED.
• At least one year of field safety experience; electrical experience is preferred.
• OSHA 30 completed within the last four years.
• CPR/First Aid training certification.
• Valid state driver’s license as required by job conditions or the company.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week and overtime as required, including night shifts and out-of-town work when required.
• Ability to train personnel in the safe operation of equipment and on safe work practices.
• Ability to operate a company truck with manual and automatic transmission.
• Ability to read and interpret maps, manuals, work-site directions, and written instructions.
• Ability to hear and see well, naturally or with correction.
• Ability to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead; climb ladders; and use arms, hands, and fingers repetitively.
• Ability to lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds and frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
• Tolerance for prolonged standing and movement on foot.
• Ability to work in varied weather and job-site conditions, use construction-site sanitary facilities, work in restricted areas, and wear required personal protective equipment.
• Ability to understand and apply CFR 1910, CFR 1926, NFPA-70e, and other applicable safety standards or regulations.
• Ability to demonstrate proper use and operation of industry-specific safety equipment and instruments, such as gas detectors, PFAS, light meters, and PPE.
• Ability to teach safety-related classes on a job site or in a classroom.
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment; communicate well verbally and in writing; learn and try new techniques; and mentor and share knowledge.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to maintain attention to detail while keeping a broader perspective and to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to foster a positive, productive safety culture and promote cooperation and morale.
• Submission of references and completion of a background check and drug-screen testing.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Division Safety Professional, project managers, and superintendents to implement safety and education training in compliance with the Ace Safety Program.
• Ensure the Ace Safety Program is understood and followed on assigned projects.
• Assist with job-site inspections, including color coding, fall protection, equipment inspections, and job hazard assessments.
• Identify and implement safety best practices; provide direction and training to division personnel; and support new safety initiatives.
• Provide technical guidance on federal and state safety and health regulations, and stay current on OSHA regulations.
• Issue Safety Alerts for serious incidents, including injuries, property damage, and near misses.
• Provide newly hired associates with a thorough orientation to the Ace Safety Program.
• Conduct frequent and regular job-site inspections and audits, identify hazards and unsafe practices, and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare and maintain project safety records and reports for performance improvement and compliance with government agencies, insurers, and company procedures.
• Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and the Division Safety Professional to maintain required safety equipment, manuals, and documents on projects.
• Help develop and implement site-specific safety plans for assigned projects.
• Advise personnel on personal protective equipment, job safety materials, and first-aid equipment.
• Purchase safety equipment and supplies for assigned projects in coordination with the Division Safety Professional.
• Assist with permit applications for high-risk work, such as energized work, first energization of services, and confined-space entry; be onsite to supervise and assist during high-risk activities.
• Ensure incidents are reported and investigated, including visiting work areas, interviewing employees, taking photographs, and completing investigation forms.
• Administer drug and alcohol screens in cooperation with HR and assist HR with claims management matters.
• Accompany OSHA, insurance-carrier, customer safety, and other safety inspections onsite.
• Work with HR and Headquarters Safety to reduce, contest, or mitigate potential OSHA citations.
• Collaborate with company safety personnel to audit and improve the Ace Safety Program.
• Assist with customer safety prequalification forms as directed.
• Train personnel in safe equipment operation and safe work practices.
• Operate a company truck with manual or automatic transmission and read and interpret maps, manuals, site directions, and written instructions.
