About The Position

Requirements

• A valid Class A or Class B CDL for the state in which the position works.
• A clean driving record.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Understand refuse collection policies, procedures, guidelines, and practices, as well as Department of Transportation and state requirements for commercial motor vehicle operators.
• Hear and see within the normal ranges, with or without correction.
• Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
• Maintain written records and service responses.
• Speak and read English well enough to communicate with customers, coworkers, dispatch, and supervisors; understand highway and traffic signals; and make legible entries on paperwork.
• Physically able to push or pull 50 pounds independently 25–50 times per day.
• Physically able to lift 50 pounds independently from the ground to waist height 25–50 times per day.
• Physically able to get in and out of a commercial motor vehicle cab 30–50 times per day.
• Physically able to lift 100 pounds with assistance 20–30 times per day.
• Physically able to bend at the waist and knees 120–150 times per day.
• Physically able to reach overhead with a reaching pole, pull down using 20 pounds of force, and secure a tarp.
• Physically able to climb up to 8 feet to deploy a 25-pound tarp.
• Physically able to work 8–12 hours in extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and empty large containers for Waste Pro commercial customers.
• Attach the truck’s hook to containers, use control levers to pull containers onto the truck bed, secure straps, and hand-tarp individual containers as necessary.
• Provide courteous and expeditious customer service to the general public and customers, while supporting company, customer, and municipal goals.
• Answer customer questions and direct customers to Customer Service or a Sales Representative for additional information.
• Operate the vehicle’s compaction and lift equipment.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections according to Waste Pro procedures and Department of Transportation guidelines.
• Complete daily Safety Lane activities and DVIRs, including inspecting under the hood and carriage, checking fluid levels, and checking tire pressure.
• Maintain a clean truck and wash its exterior weekly; inspect the vehicle, add fuel, check fluid levels, and check tire pressure.
• Attend and participate in company-sponsored training courses as assigned.
• Keep up to date with current technology relevant to the job.
• Perform additional duties assigned by the Supervisor.
