About The Position

SSM Health Dean Medical Group in Janesville is seeking EMTs, CMAs, or LPNs to join their team. This role is described as more than a career, but a calling. The position involves assisting in performing a variety of nursing care services for patients. Duties may include patient rooming, in-office procedure assistance, injection and vaccine administration, and general clinical administrative tasks within the electronic medical record program (Epic). The ideal candidate will be comfortable with hands-on patient care, open to new experiences and challenges, ambitious, motivated, and sympathetic. Experience and expertise are preferred, but not required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience
  • MA, CMA or RMA - must be graduates of a school of medical assisting (if applying as MA/CMA/RMA)
  • EMTs with a WI license (if applying as EMT in WI)
  • Paramedics with a WI license (if applying as Paramedic in WI)
  • LPNs with a WI license (if applying as LPN in WI)
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Driver’s License (State of Issuance)
  • Advanced EMT - Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) OR EMT-Basic - Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) OR EMT-Intermediate - Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) (for Illinois)

Responsibilities

  • Receive patient care assignment from the registered nurse (RN) in charge.
  • Initiate delegated tasks based on demonstrated competence in performing nursing activities for specific patient age group served.
  • Collect and document data for reassessment at specific times for patient population.
  • Document and provide appropriate data to the Physician, RN and/or LPN for analysis and validation of patient’s response to care or treatment and when significant change occurs in the patient’s condition.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of appropriate lead placement for routine cardiac monitoring and 12 lead EKG, as appropriate to the environment.
  • Perform 12 lead EKG on patient according to policy and procedures.
  • Assist physician and nursing staff with medical procedures.
  • Stock and maintain supplies and equipment in keeping with patient care needs and cost containment.
  • Turn over rooms after each patient use: Clean carrier, change sheets, restock supplies, dispose of trash, ensure equipment returns to its proper place, and take care of instrument trays according to the current procedure.
  • Assist with delegated clerical duties such as answering telephones, relaying messages transcription of physician orders, preparing and organizing the patient’s medical record.
  • Prepare patients for discharge or completion of patient visit and accompany them upon dismissal as indicated.
  • Transport patients to a receiving department or facility if indicated.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
