Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing required
• Three years related nursing experience.
• Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
• Some positions require certification as a generalist in a related specialty area by the American Nurses Association (ANA).
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating comprehensive, specialized care for advanced heart failure patients who are candidates for MCS therapy.
• Management of postoperative care for those implanted with MCS.
• Ongoing outpatient management of those with MCS in place.
• Assists in coordinating the care of the mechanical circulatory support patients.
• Ensures the achievement of optimal evidence-based patient care and departmental goals through efficient daily operations and compliance with established rules, regulations, and guidelines.
• Promotes interdisciplinary collaboration across the organization.
• Assists with providing leadership presence and patient/staff support by providing coverage 24/7, 365 days/year.
• Uses current protocols to assist in medical care of patients.
• Assists in the research process by maintaining accurate data.
