About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Per Diem Pool Team 2 at Allegheny General Hospital, focusing on Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units. The role involves covering various areas within an assigned team based on specialty and clinical expertise. The team consists of highly trained RNs who handle a variety of patient acuities, preparing them for critical care. This position is casual, requiring 24 hours every two weeks, with rotating weekends and holidays as per policy. It is not eligible for time off or medical benefits. The unit offers opportunities to mentor and precept other nurses. Allegheny General Hospital is a Level I Shock Trauma Center with state-of-the-art facilities including ICUs and a Cancer Center, and over 550 beds. Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years acute care nursing experience required in Med Surg/Tele
  • Current State of PA RN licensure OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  • CPR – American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates clinical assessment skills and care planning skills.
  • Provides safe and effective care for the age population served according to regulatory requirements.
  • Professionally directs and manages the activities of the patient care delivery by the team members.
  • Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team for the plan of care from admission through discharge.
  • Assesses learning needs of patient and family and provides education based on age, culture and willingness to learn.
