About The Position

Requirements

• High school graduation or GED completion.
• Certification in Professional Coding (CPC) or equivalent within six months of employment.
• Association of Home Care Coders certification (HCS-D) within one year of employment.
• Basic knowledge of electronic medical records, Microsoft operating systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Training and experience in billing, accounts receivable, and related functions.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to respond appropriately in stressful situations.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college.
• Two years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Act as a liaison between the OASIS/Coding Contractor and clinicians.
• Ensure all OASIS assessments are reviewed and submitted on time.
• Maintain current knowledge of regulatory coding requirements.
• Keep the Chief Financial and Compliance Officer informed of outstanding issues.
• Assess and support accurate, timely billing and rebilling of claims for all payers.
• Assist with accounts receivable processes, including patient accounts and collections.
• Support and train the Revenue Cycle Specialist in billing and accounts receivable processes, including denials and unpaid claims.
• Manage billing and financial components of agency software, including payers, payer-specific formatting, clinical service codes, pricing, and contractual rates.
• Recruit, interview, hire, orient, and supervise the Revenue Cycle Supervisor or other assigned associates.
• Oversee billing and payment functions of the Finance Department.
• Manage the agency supply process.
• Maintain skills through the Annual Skills Fair or other continuing education opportunities.
• Participate in special projects and perform other duties as requested.
• Keep a daily record of time worked in accordance with agency policies.
• Participate in quality improvement activities to positively affect agency outcomes.
• Protect staff and patient information and properly dispose of written information when no longer needed, subject to stated record-retention exceptions.
• Attend and participate in staff and team meetings and applicable in-services; complete required in-service hours on time.
• Follow team decisions, foster teamwork, and support agency objectives.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, sanitary work environment and keep storage areas free of hazardous accumulations.
• Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the agency dress code and wear a name badge.
• Follow agency and regulatory infection-control guidelines and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, health care providers, and community agencies.
• Make independent decisions within the scope of practice, licensure, and agency policies and procedures.
• Function as a member of an interdisciplinary health care team and represent the agency with honesty, integrity, loyalty, sound work habits, and professionalism.
