About The Position

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina State Board of Nursing.
• Ability to move freely around facilities and campuses; stand, walk, reach, pull, stoop, bend, push, climb stairs, and lift up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to teach structured programs and evaluate learning needs and competencies.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to maintain therapeutic and professional relationships with patients and staff and work therapeutically with age-specific populations.
• Flexibility to work all tours of duty when assigned.
• Maintain certification in Child/Infant/Adult CPR with AED, First Aid, MANDT, and MAPS.

Responsibilities

• Implement and teach educational programs for nursing, clinical, and support staff, including New Employee Orientation, and enter training data into the SCEIS database.
• Train new nursing staff in the inpatient Electronic Health Record, including navigation and writing notes that meet regulatory and accrediting standards.
• Design, develop, and revise course content for new employee orientation, continuing education, and in-service education based on identified learning needs.
• Revise the nursing curriculum and competency program to meet regulatory and accrediting standards.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs and offerings.
• Follow up with newly hired nursing staff to help resolve educational issues or concerns.
• Develop training programs for Inpatient Services to meet special program needs.
• Orient affiliated student nurses and assist with recruiting by sharing insight and experience about nursing at OMH.
• Consult with employees, upon request, regarding clinical and administrative issues.
• Complete required annual trainings, attend assigned committee meetings, and assist other trainers as assigned or as time permits.
