About The Position

The Paramedic Critical Care Flight position requires the Paramedic to transfer injured or critically ill patients between hospitals and other healthcare facilities. They will work as part of the AeroMD interdisciplinary team, which includes physicians, nurses and respiratory therapist. Ability to adapt to new skills and information is essential to succeed in this role. Critical thinking skills are a must. This position is physically and intellectually demanding. It is essential that Paramedics in this capacity are comfortable with providing out-of-hospital care and willing to learn new skills to facilitate the transfer of patients. The plan of care will be consistent with approved AeroMD protocols, policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Current National Registry Paramedic.
  • Obtain FP-C within 6 months of employment.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience with a paid EMS provider at the paramedic level.
  • Maintains knowledge and training of current evidence-based practices in advanced cardiac, pediatric and trauma care.
  • High School Diploma, state level EMT-P or NREMT-P
  • 5 years paid experience at EMT-P transport level with a preferred blend of pre-hospital and critical care transport experience.
  • U.S. EMT-P state licensed with ability to procure VI EMT-P and/or FL EMT-P
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS

Nice To Haves

  • Infectious disease experience
  • AS, AAS, or BS degree.
  • Masters Degree preferred.
  • 5 years paid Pre-hospital EMS experience
  • Critical care transport experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with team and initiates care plan based on patient assessment and significant other input/data. Continuously reviews and revises plan as needed per patient's condition.
  • Maintains thorough patient care documentation.
  • Provides care to all types of patients to include adult, pediatric, and OB patients with various levels of acuity.
  • Responsible for transport of critically ill and/or injured patients that may require advanced assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and intervention skills.
  • Completes daily duties as well as all mandatory education/training.
  • Stays current with AeroMD communications (i.e. emails, Shift briefings, etc.)
  • Promotes team effort and unity when working with the receiving and transferring centers.
  • Organizes and performs work effectively and efficiently, completing all paperwork within required time frames.
  • Will be responsible for the familiarization and utilization of various types of biomedical equipment.
  • Consistently demonstrates professional behavior and performs proactive interventions which support the Mission, Vision and Values of AeroMD.
  • Responds to patient complaints.
  • Demonstrates standards of performance (ownership, teamwork, communication, compassion) that support patient satisfaction and principles of service excellence.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Any other duty or responsibility assigned by the Program Director or Chief Medical Officer
