A Day in the Life We are seeking a seasoned Senior Program Director to lead development on some of Surgical’ s most complex and strategically significant programs. This isn't just about managing a timeline; it’s about orchestrating the convergence of multiple, high-stakes workstreams, interdependent programs, and collaborating business units. As the Development Core Team Member, you will serve as the strategic glue between development activities spanning multiple geographies, programs, and businesses. You will navigate deep technical interdependencies, influence related business development (BD) requirements, and provide the overarching coordination necessary to deliver the next generation of Surgical innovation.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate with m inimum of 15 years of relevant experience , or an a dvanced degree with 13+ years of relevant experience
  • Minimum of 10+ years of project management experience
  • You have a proven track record of managing multi-workstream programs where hardware, software, and clinical therapy intersect.
  • You excel at gaining support for strategic programs across multiple functions and in environments with competing objectives and perspectives.
  • You can lead large, matrixed units and vendors, providing direction and accountability even without direct-report authority.
  • You don't just execute; you assess business strategy and recommend program changes or new initiatives to stay ahead of the market.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Engineering and/or scientific discipline
  • MBA , PMP , or certification
  • Experience with Surgical products and therapies
  • Mastery within a technical discipline or broad expertise across multiple related medical device disciplines
  • Strong understanding of medical device regulations and Design Controls regulations (e.g., IEC 60601, IEC 62304, ISO 14971, ISO 13485 , etc. )
  • Experience in Design for Reliability and Manufacturability (DRM) or equivalent design/manufacturing process improvement initiative
  • Highly s killed in organizing work for unstructured problems or execution tasks
  • Ability to effectively interface and communicate with employees at all organizational levels
  • Ability to operate in a leadership capacity, handling high-pressure requirements and intricate organizational interdependencies
  • Exceptional influencing and interpersonal skills, negotiating, managing change, resolving conflict

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Oversight: Lead cross-functional, matrixed teams through the evaluation, development, and lifecycle management of large -scale project s .
  • Operational Excellence : Serve as the primary liaison between project planning and execution teams to ensure seamless delivery across hardware and software disciplines.
  • Portfolio Governance : Establish objectives , timelines, milestones, and budgets for multiple interconnected programs.
  • Risk & Resolution : Identify complex, undefined issues that impact multiple business units. Use significant conceptualization and reasoning skills to develop resolutions that meet productivity and quality goals.
  • Executive Influence: Act as a principal spokesperson for these programs, conducting high-level briefings for senior and executive leadership on critical outcomes and strategic proposals.
  • Process Innovation: Continuously improve entire systems and procedures that affect program management across the organization.
