About The Position

Mission critical transportation role providing peace of mind to students, caregivers, and colleagues through safe, reliable, and efficient student transportation services. Schedule: Part-time, approximately 25-30 hours per week, 12:3pm- 5:30pm, with some additional morning hours for driver coverage Midday: Administrative / coordination responsibilities Afternoon: Regular driving route As needed: Substitute driver coverage Pay: $36/hour JOB SUMMARY With your MA 7D license, you’ll operate a Stars van to deliver students home at the end of the day. Under the direction of the Program Director, this role also supports the administrative coordination of transportation services during the day, including arranging or covering drivers and routes in the morning. Drivers ensure safe, compliant, timely, and reliable transportation for Stars’ early childhood education, afterschool, and summer camp programs. This role combines office-based operational support, scheduling, supervising and communication with hands-on driving responsibilities and coverage as a substitute driver when needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to pass CORI and DEEC Suitability screenings and medical requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of related experience (5+ years preferred)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid Massachusetts 7D license with a clean driving record
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated sound judgment and collaborative problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to safety, compliance, and high-quality service
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, twist, push, and pull throughout the workday
  • Ability to work in environments with varying noise levels
  • Ability to safely operate transportation vehicles and safety equipment
  • Ability to drive between program sites, student homes, and partner locations

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily transportation operations, including routing, scheduling, and dispatching
  • Serve as a key point of contact for Center Directors, school personnel, drivers, and transportation vendors
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records including routes, schedules, student assignments, compliance documentation, and licensing
  • Assist with driver hiring, onboarding, and scheduling
  • Support contract administration and review/approve monthly invoices
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with DEEC and all applicable transportation regulations
  • Track vehicle maintenance schedules, inspections, and documentation
  • Communicate updates, changes, and issues proactively to all stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in transportation services
  • Serve as a regular afternoon driver, safely transporting students between program locations, schools, and homes
  • Act as a substitute (backup) 7D driver to cover absences, schedule gaps, or increased program needs
  • Ensure a safe, positive, and supportive environment for all students during transport
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any issues promptly
  • Provide day-to-day support and oversight to drivers to ensure safe and reliable service
  • Assist in coordinating driver training and compliance requirements
  • Monitor routes and provide feedback for efficiency and safety improvements
  • Maintain a hands-on presence in daily transportation operations
  • Collaborate with internal teams, school districts, and community partners to resolve transportation needs and concerns
  • Maintain high standards of customer service and communication
  • Perform other duties reasonably associated with the position as assigned
