About The Position

Requirements

• 4–6 years of legal experience at a top law firm, in-house, or both, with substantial exposure to product counseling, privacy, cybersecurity, or technology transactions.
• A track record advising on AI/ML products, models, or data, including AI governance, model and data licensing, acceptable use, or AI regulatory compliance.
• Working knowledge of global privacy laws and emerging AI regulatory frameworks.
• Familiarity with product legal practices, including product review, privacy programs, AI governance, and customer trust commitments.
• Ability to create processes, templates, and programs from scratch with guidance from senior counsel.
• Ability to independently handle day-to-day product questions and recognize when to escalate.
• Ability to seek feedback and learn quickly.
• Pragmatic, commercially minded judgment and an ability to help teams find a path forward.
• Curiosity about AI and infrastructure technology and willingness to investigate technical details.
• Clear, plain-language communication about legal risk and ability to earn stakeholder trust.
• Ability to work in a fast-moving environment with limited direction and imperfect information while balancing competing priorities and time-sensitive matters.
• JD or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution, plus active bar admission in good standing or other authorization to practice law.

• Experience with cloud infrastructure or platform services (IaaS/PaaS), such as cloud service agreements, SLAs, or shared responsibility models.
• Experience at an established cloud, infrastructure, semiconductor, or AI company.
• Startup or high-growth company experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and build product review processes, including intake, launch checklists, approval frameworks, and decision records.
• Advise Product and Engineering teams from early design through launch, identifying legal issues and providing practical, risk-appropriate advice.
• Advise across product, privacy, AI, data, cybersecurity, and consumer protection law for IaaS, PaaS, and future AI applications; escalate novel or high-impact matters to senior counsel.
• Work with Commercial Legal to align product functionality with customer commitments, contracting positions, disclosures, technical documentation, and marketing claims.
• Draft and maintain cloud service terms, SLAs, Acceptable Use Policy, Privacy Policy, and developer terms.
• Contribute to data mapping, privacy and AI risk assessments, shared responsibility models, and data residency work.
• Advise on AI-specific legal matters, including model licensing and open-weight model terms, customer data use, and intellectual property rights in inputs and outputs.
• Partner with Security on incident response, breach notification analysis, vulnerability disclosure, and customer trust materials, including SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
• Monitor AI, privacy, and cloud regulatory developments, including the EU AI Act and U.S. federal and state law, and translate them into practical guidance and product roadmap input.
• Advise on export controls and trade compliance for AI compute and cloud services.
• Develop training, playbooks, and templates that help teams answer routine legal questions.
• Manage outside counsel on specialized matters.
