Vascular Access Nurse Consultant - PICC RN

About The Position
VIC the PICC (VTP) provides vascular access consulting and support services to acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and home healthcare providers. Services include vascular access device insertion, post-access support such as declotting, line removal, port access, and troubleshooting, as well as continuing education and precepting for clinical teams. Vascular Access Nurse Consultants work with customer clinical teams to resolve venous access issues and support treatment objectives set by the treating physician. Depending on the referral, work may take place inside or outside a hospital. Consultants travel to customer facilities throughout their assigned coverage area, so the work location varies from day to day. The position has a strong operational focus in the Inland Empire. Full-time roles are scheduled for 36–48 hours per week across 3–4 shifts, including a weekend and holiday rotation. Per diem roles require at least 32 hours per month across four shifts, with availability for additional shifts as needed; these opportunities are for experienced PICC nurses. PICC certification training is provided to qualifying candidates with consistent, recent ultrasound-guided IV placement experience. Compensation is $50–$70 per hour, with profit pool participation and overtime eligibility. Full-time employees may qualify for a sign-on or commitment bonus of up to $10,000, based on prior vascular access experience.
Requirements
- Current, active Registered Nurse license.
- Experience placing ultrasound-guided IVs (USGIVs).
- Experience in vascular access device management, including care, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- American Heart BLS Certification.
- Valid driver's license, active auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work independently and meet scheduling requirements for the applicable job classification.
- Must have a smartphone for scheduling and documentation.
- Comfort working independently across varied clinical settings.
- Must have a strong interest in vascular access.
Nice To Haves
- At least 3 years of acute care RN experience.
- Experience placing PICCs, midlines, or other vascular access devices using ultrasound.
- Prior vascular access or PICC experience.
Responsibilities
- Place PICCs, midlines, and peripheral IVs using ultrasound guidance.
- Use ECG technology for PICC tip confirmation.
- Assist with management of PICCs and other vascular access devices.
- Provide vascular access support services, including port access, line removal, and declotting.
- Educate facility nursing staff on PICCs, midlines, and other CVADs.
- Travel to assigned customer facilities and work collaboratively with clinical teams to address venous access issues.
