About The Position

The Vascular Access / PICC Nurse is a registered nurse who specializes in placing and maintaining IV access devices. Using ultrasound guidance, the nurse places peripheral IVs, midlines, and PICCs, performs dressing changes, and troubleshoots lines. The position is in the DPH Vascular Access / PICC Team at Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips Hospital and is listed as variable full-time, with three 12-hour shifts and rotating weekends from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Requirements

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• Meet Orlando Health and unit or department mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements.
• Maintain a current State of Florida RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.
• Maintain current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
• At least 1 year of RN experience.

Nice To Haves

• At least 1 year of experience in vascular access, PICC, and/or ultrasound-guided IVs is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs and develop or revise individualized plans of care based on patient needs and responses; evaluate progress toward expected outcomes.
• Place peripheral IVs, midlines, and PICCs using ultrasound guidance.
• Perform dressing changes and troubleshoot lines.
• Build respectful relationships with team members and customers, respecting diversity.
• Act as a patient and family advocate.
• Provide care appropriate to the ages and developmental needs of patients served.
• Serve as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/or nurse clinician.
• Communicate and collaborate with medical staff and the interdisciplinary team to plan and manage the unit or department effectively.
• Model professional conduct for staff and support hospital and nursing department goals and strategies.
• Assess patient status and interpret information needed to identify age-specific care requirements.
