About The Position

The Payroll Specialist will assist in reviewing and validating payroll data prior to submission, including timekeeping records, deductions, bonuses, and other adjustments. This role involves auditing payroll reports for accuracy and resolving discrepancies in collaboration with the vendor and internal departments. The specialist will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, maintain payroll documentation and records, and support year-end processes such as W-2 review, tax filings, and audits. Collaboration with HR, Finance, and IT teams is essential for seamless data flow and integration. The position also requires responding to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters and assisting in the implementation and optimization of payroll systems and processes. Monitoring vendor performance and participating in periodic reviews are also key responsibilities. This is an ONSITE position located out of our Hartsville, SC or Charlotte, NC (South End) office.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field.
  • 3+ years of payroll experience, preferably with outsourced payroll providers.
  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, UKG, Paychex, etc.) and HRIS platforms.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • High level of confidentiality and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • FPC/CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation and optimization of payroll systems and processes.
  • Monitor vendor performance and participate in periodic reviews and evaluations.
