About The Position
State College Chinese Alliance Church (SCCAC) is seeking a part-time or full-time youth pastor or director to grow, lead, and coordinate effective middle and high school youth programs. The role supports the church’s vision to develop youth to love, share the Gospel, and grow in life and missions. The position may require licensing with The Christian & Missionary Alliance. The pastor or director will lead youth programming and spiritual development, work with church staff and leadership, and build relationships with youth, parents, and volunteers. Responsibilities also include preaching in the English worship service, overseeing the youth ministry budget, participating in church-wide ministry development, and completing administrative duties such as staff and governing board meetings.
Requirements
- A minimum of a college degree.
- One to five years of volunteer experience in youth ministry.
- Commitment to Jesus Christ and to a growing personal relationship with Him.
- Commitment to ministering to youth in a Christ-centered way.
- Commitment to State College Chinese Alliance Church and its beliefs.
- A balanced and Christ-honoring Christian lifestyle.
Responsibilities
- Grow SCCAC’s youth ministry in godly and meaningful ways.
- Lead and coordinate youth programs, including Friday night fellowship, youth Sunday School, discipleship, evangelism and mission opportunities, and other youth ministry functions.
- Work closely with the coordinator of the English worship service.
- Preach in the English worship service once every two months or more often if possible.
- Recruit, train, and shepherd volunteer youth co-workers with diverse gifts and personalities.
- Provide individual counseling and spiritual direction to youth.
- Maintain contact with youth and parents and keep them informed about ongoing activities.
- Keep parents updated on ministry strategies and plans in ways that encourage partnership and involvement.
- Oversee the youth ministry budget.
- Participate as needed or requested in evaluating and developing the overall church ministry.
- Attend weekly staff meetings and governing board meetings.
- Present annual ministry updates and goals for the coming year to the Governing Board.
- Assist church leadership in developing a yearly budget for youth ministry programs and activities.
- Work with church leadership on special events.
