About The Position

The Medical Oncology inpatient unit is seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) with a desire to join our premier multidisciplinary team at one of only 51 National Cancer Institute-Desginated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the country. Nurses on this 32-bed acute unit provide care to adult patients with hematologic malignancies (mostly acute leukemia) and solid tumors, many on clinical trials and/or receiving novel therapies. With many cancer patients experiencing extended and repeated hospital admissions, nurses are able to connect with patients and families, and greatly impact their care and outcomes. On the Medical Oncology inpatient unit, you’ll learn to administer advanced cancer-fighting therapies and earn an Oncology Nursing Society Chemo/Biotherapy certificate. You’ll administer blood products, monitor and treat patients for specific disease or treatment-related toxicities, and provide supportive/palliative care to a challenging and vulnerable patient population. Delivery of effective, compassionate cancer care depends on a knowledgeable, strong and dedicated team, and the nurses on this Medical Oncology unit are essential to achieving that mission.
