About The Position

UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is seeking a Professional Staff Nurse, Oncology (RN) to support its medical oncology practices in Central Pennsylvania. This full-time float role requires travel among six oncology clinics in Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg, Carlisle, Lititz, Hanover, and York. The nurse provides direct, patient-centered care in a fast-paced outpatient oncology infusion setting and collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to support clinical practice standards and improve patient outcomes. The role is eligible for a float differential and mileage reimbursement. Clinic hours vary between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.; weekends and holidays are not required. Placement within the UPMC nursing career ladder and starting salary are based on education and experience, with opportunities for professional growth. The nurse applies the nursing process within Relationship Based Care, develops individualized plans of care, communicates patient needs to other care providers, and provides teaching to patients and families. The role also involves quality improvement, evidence-based practice, professional development, shared governance, teamwork, and support for students, new staff, and colleagues. Care must be appropriate to the ages and developmental needs of patients served by the assigned unit. Candidates need at least six months of experience and current RN licensure in Pennsylvania, Ohio, or New York, or an applicable multistate license under the Nursing Licensure Compact. CPR is required within 30 days of hire and must meet AHA standards, including didactic and skills demonstration components. Required clearances include Act 34. Oncology experience and a BSN are preferred; UPMC-approved national certification is also preferred.

Requirements

At least six months of experience.
Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse, or current licensure in Ohio or New York as applicable; an applicable multistate license under the Nursing Licensure Compact may meet licensure requirements.
CPR within 30 days of hire, meeting AHA standards and including didactic and skills demonstration components.
Act 34 clearance.
Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, other providers, support staff, departments, and patients and families.
Ability to work effectively in a complex environment, manage multiple or changing priorities, and use specialized equipment.
Clinical judgment, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities related to patient care.
Critical thinking skills to apply and lead others in applying the nursing process.
Mobility and visual-manual dexterity.
Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.
Ability to provide care appropriate to patients' ages and developmental needs.
Ability to travel to the assigned oncology clinics.

Nice To Haves

Oncology nursing background; oncology experience is highly preferred.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
UPMC-approved national certification.

Responsibilities
