About The Position

This role involves performing examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, intervention, and outcome in accordance with professional standards and hospital policies. The Occupational Therapist will provide age-appropriate and family-centered care, complete documentation, and communicate effectively with various stakeholders. This position also includes supervising therapy aides, students, and volunteers, participating in education for new employees and students, and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to enhance patient care outcomes. There are opportunities to participate in research projects, performance improvement processes, and outcome studies, as well as community activities that benefit patients or encourage wellness.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
  • Current licensure to practice in the State of Texas or eligible.
  • One year OT of experience, preferably pediatrics.
  • BLS Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Performs examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, intervention, and outcome in accordance with standards set by profession’s national association, scope of practice and hospital policies and guidelines.
  • Provides age-appropriate and family-centered care in accordance with current evidence and practice standards, provider’s prescription and protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Completes documentation per departmental and hospital policy.
  • Demonstrates skills sufficient for effective verbal and written communication with providers, patients of all ages and their families, hospital staff members, and other professionals.
  • Supervises therapy aides, students and volunteers in order to maintain patient safety and regulatory standards.
  • Participates in formal or informal education of new employees, students, volunteers, and members of same and other disciplines.
  • Collaborates with multi-disciplinary team to enhance outcomes for patient care through individual patient care coordination as well as education and research activities.
  • Participates in professional development activities.
  • Expresses interest and ideas for participating in research projects, performance improvement processes, and outcome studies.
  • Participates in community activities, programs that benefit patients or program that encourage wellness for our staff and the community.
