About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy
• Possession of current Texas State license prior to orientation (for new graduates)
• Possession of current Texas State license (for all others)
• Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire

Nice To Haves

• Master's or Doctorate Degree in Occupational Therapy
• No previous work experience necessary. After completion of 3 full years/beginning of 4th year may be eligible for Occupational Therapist Level II.
• Clinical experience in variety of settings, Hand Therapy, Ergonomics, as well as marketing and business familiarity.
• Spanish Proficiency

Responsibilities

• Interprets physician orders and requests interpretation as necessary
• Administers and interprets tests and measurements of patients
• Reviews patient charts and progress prior to treatment and modifies the treatment plan accordingly
• Develops functional goals based on patient and/or family expectations
• Instructs and involves patient, family, social worker, nursing staff and discharge planner in patient's progress and discharge plans, participating in appropriate meetings.
• Ensures all documentation is legible, appropriate, concise and timely.
• Uses appropriate modalities and procedures correctly demonstrating knowledge of indications and contraindications
• Assures appropriate equipment performance prior to each use
• Organizes schedule to reflect patient priorities, needs of other staff, and the department needs and responsibilities
• Provides in-service to staff
• Provides clinical education for OT students
• Utilizes supportive personnel and supervises administration of treatment plans
• Informs supervisor of incidents, accidents, equipment failure or unusual physician or patient problems immediately, initiating appropriate action.
• Maintains a working knowledge of routine clerical procedures
• Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
• Maintains safe environment
• Addresses patient population—specific needs
