About The Position

Requirements

• Two years of full-time experience as a registered nurse in an acute care setting.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
• Current unrestricted license or multistate licensure privilege to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina.
• Preparation in adult education teaching and learning principles, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation appropriate to the assignment, prior to employment or within the first three years of employment.
• Knowledge of classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction; instructional development and strategies; record keeping; test development and administration; safe work practices; relevant equipment; English usage; current developments in the field; and applicable laws and regulations.
• Ability to provide classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction; interpret and apply college, division, and government policies and regulations; communicate clearly; establish effective working relationships; work independently; follow safety rules and instructions; and operate equipment safely.
• Ability to maintain an office and teaching environment, including equipment and supplies, in a clean, functional condition and in conformance with OSHA standards.
• Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the position, including standing, walking or sitting for extended periods, moderate lifting and carrying, manual dexterity, equipment operation, extended computer screen exposure, effective audio-visual perception, communication, multitasking, and sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and participate in instruction for Nursing program classes, labs, and clinicals; prepare supplemental materials and tests; and maintain accurate attendance and performance records.
• Assist in preparing course objectives, assignments, syllabi, course outlines, instructional materials, and aids; evaluate textbooks and administer student evaluations.
• Meet scheduled class times and submit reports, final grades, and other forms on time; revise course content and objectives as needed.
• Participate in developing, implementing, documenting, and evaluating program curriculum activities and operations.
• Participate in developing the Nursing work plan and coordinate work activities, products, methods, and procedures.
• Assist with instructional scheduling and ensure instruction meets the needs of students and the community.
• Participate in efforts to recruit and retain students.
• Participate in selecting, evaluating, using, and maintaining program equipment and facilities.
• Attend scheduled Nursing faculty meetings, seminars, clinical agency competency workshops, professional meetings, continuing education workshops, and clinical site orientations as appropriate to stay current.
• Participate in maintaining Nursing program content in accordance with State and National standards.
• Make student clinical assignments; orient students to clinical areas; demonstrate procedures; supervise clinical performance; and evaluate and counsel students on their progress and performance.
• Assist with lab and clinical orientation of nursing students.
• Serve on committees and study groups and research and develop recommendations related to academic and instructional programs.
• Maintain contacts with business, industry, and professional organizations to keep instructional programs current.
• Assist with program equipment inventory and assume responsibilities for labs, shops, and other facilities designed primarily for the Nursing program.
• Participate in community activities promoting the Nursing program and nursing profession.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
