Registered Nurse (RN) Cardiac Cath Lab

Advocate Health
•$38 - $57•Onsite

About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiac Cath Lab at Good Shepherd Hospital provides and coordinates comprehensive, patient-centered care using evidence-based practice, clinical decision-making, compassion, and skilled communication. The nurse applies the nursing process—including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation—and supports patients’ transitions across the care continuum. The Cath Lab operates Monday through Friday from 07:00 to 17:30, with on-call coverage after normal hours; on-call nurses must live within 30 minutes of the hospital. The department has four labs: a dedicated interventional radiology space, a dedicated Cath Lab, an electrophysiology room, and a hybrid room, with structural heart and electrophysiology programs. This is a per-diem position, working on an as-needed basis. The role involves caring for patients across age groups and requires responding promptly to changes in patient or unit conditions. Work may include exposure to hazardous or unpleasant conditions, infectious specimens, blood and body fluids, chemicals, and communicable diseases. Protective equipment must be used as necessary. The nurse may need to float within the designated service area and assist with patient evacuation during emergencies. Physical tasks include frequent sitting, standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, reaching, and twisting; supporting up to 35 pounds; pushing or pulling with 30 pounds of force; and performing a sliding transfer of 150 pounds with a second person present. Patient-handling equipment and another team member are expected for lifts over 35 pounds or when a patient cannot assist, when available.
