Registered Nurse - Patient Educator (PRN) Immediate Openings - Bloomington, IN
About The Position
Abbott’s Diagnostics family of businesses brings together expert teams and industry-leading technologies. In this role, the Registered Nurse provides personalized Face-2-Face® training to Acelis Connected Health home-testing customers. Training covers obtaining a finger-stick blood sample, operating PT/INR products, and reporting responsibilities. The position is per-diem and specific to the trainer’s state and city. Trainers travel to customers’ homes within the general geographic area of their own home and arrange training appointments directly with customers or caregivers. The job description may be reviewed periodically and changed by management.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse with clinical experience.
- Complete assigned educational prerequisites.
- Provide proof of health screening documentation.
- Successfully complete a consumer report/background check and pre-employment drug screening.
- Demonstrate computer and smart-device proficiency.
- Own a personal laptop or desktop computer to complete company requirements if needed.
- Have access to a printer.
- Be proficient in basic website and application troubleshooting using a smart device.
- Travel a minimum of 100 miles roundtrip.
- No lifting over 15 pounds is required without assistance.
Nice To Haves
- Direct experience or exposure to anticoagulation management or homecare is preferred.
- Health education training experience is a definite plus.
Responsibilities
- Remotely arrange training appointments directly with customers or caregivers.
- Travel to customers’ homes within the general geographic area of the trainer’s home.
- Demonstrate and instruct customers and/or caregivers on the proper use and care of PT/INR equipment.
- Explain test-reporting options.
- Communicate and present oneself professionally.
- Accurately document and submit patient training records electronically.
- Maintain communication with Acelis Connected Health by cell phone, email, and internet access.
- Use secure encrypted email for communications containing customers’ protected health information (PHI).
- Maintain reliable transportation.
