About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Peer certification must be obtained before hire and maintained throughout employment.
• In California, obtain the Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification through CalMHSA within 120 days of hire and maintain it throughout employment; failure to obtain it within this period results in separation.
• One year, or part-time equivalent, of experience supporting members with behavioral health challenges.
• Experience as a beneficiary of the public Behavioral Health system of care.
• Successful completion of Peer Support Training or Peer Employment Training.

Responsibilities

• Engage members served in meaningful conversations that support exploration and achievement of their recovery goals.
• Consult with the team to promote Telecare’s Recovery Culture and integrate members’ viewpoints and preferences into services and self-help programming.
• Respond to critical situations with engagement and de-escalation skills to support a least restrictive environment during mental health or addiction-related emergencies.
