About The Position
The Medical Laboratory Assistant performs skin punctures to obtain blood specimens for laboratory testing. The role processes test requisitions promptly and accurately; charges, registers, and orders tests for outpatients; and informs technicians about STAT, timed, or other urgent testing. The assistant contacts patients, physicians, and nursing units by telephone when required and keeps collection trays, collection areas, and work areas neat and organized. The position requires logical and professional behavior under demanding and stressful conditions. This PRN position is at UF Health Leesburg Hospital, 600 East Dixie Ave, Leesburg, Florida 34748. The listed schedule is Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, 4:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Nice To Haves
- Phlebotomy certification; national phlebotomy certification is preferred.
