About The Position
Harborview Medical Center Environmental Services has an outstanding opportunity for a Manager of Environmental Services. This role involves managing the day-to-day operations for one of Harborview Medical Center’s largest departments, overseeing functions such as cleaning and disinfection, waste management, linen services, integrated pest management, and room setup. The Manager will support specialized patient care areas including Operating Rooms (OR), ICUs, patient care floors, and the Emergency Department (ED). This position also involves developing and implementing efficient operational processes and Environmental Services best practices, and collaborating with hospital leaders, staff, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure continuity and quality of services.
Requirements
- Business Administration degree or related field equivalent
- Three to four years of management experience, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting
- Equivalent education and experience may substitute for required qualifications
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day EVS operations to ensure the operational needs of the hospital are met
- Oversee cleaning and disinfection, waste management, linen services, integrated pest management, and room setup
- Ensure compliance with infection control, patient safety, and environmental services standards and regulations
- Partner with hospital leaders to coordinate EVS activities, schedules, priorities, and service expectations
- Assist the Director with operational plans, budgets, policies, procedures, and department strategies
- Manage staffing, including interviewing, hiring, training, performance management, and corrective action
- Plan, assign, and oversee the work of supervisors and other direct reports
- Monitor department performance and implement best practices to improve quality, safety, efficiency, and patient care
