This HR Generalist position is for the First Quality Tissue site, located in Lock Haven, PA. The role primarily focuses on Talent Acquisition and Proactive Sourcing, involving establishing rapport with hiring managers, guiding them through the recruitment process, managing applicant communications, developing job descriptions, posting advertisements, reviewing applications, conducting interviews, managing selection decisions, performing background checks, and participating in the offer process. Additionally, the HR Generalist facilitates orientations, collaborates with marketing for social media and billboards, manages social media for team member engagement and open positions, ensures policy compliance, maintains personnel files, organizes team member events, facilitates engagement committees, participates in counseling sessions and investigations, administers benefits, and assists with Family Medical Leave and Short-Term Disability. The role requires regular presence on the production floor and adherence to safety rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, or relevant equivalent experience plus a minimum of 2 years related professional experience, preferably in a full life cycle recruitment structure.
  • Knowledge of HR and employment laws is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast paced, high-volume environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop positive working relationships with hiring managers.
  • Demonstrated ability to be professional, calm, flexible, resilient, solution oriented, and creative.
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity, knowledge of and ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and representational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and databases including applicant tracking systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively both in groups as well as independently.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and discretion when handling confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Establish a strong rapport with hiring managers to understand their strategic staffing needs and fill vacancies in a timely manner.
  • Ensure clear mutual understanding of staffing priorities and practical constraints.
  • Guide the hiring managers through the recruitment process where needed.
  • Manage communications between applicants, hiring managers and others to keep all parties apprised of the status of each search.
  • Work with hiring managers to develop job descriptions and announcements, post advertisements in a variety of newspapers, trade publications, networks, etc.
  • Recommend creative and alternative advertising venues and strategies.
  • Review online applications, evaluate qualifications of both internal and external candidates, conduct prescreen interviews to analyze candidate experience and fit, coordinate pre-employment tests as needed.
  • Manage candidate interview results and selection decision with hiring manager.
  • Provide candidates feedback on interview results as appropriate.
  • Complete reference check and background checks on selected candidates, as requested.
  • Participate in the offer process including negotiating offers with candidates, preparing offer letter/employment agreements.
  • Partner with Human Resources Department in order to ensure proper submission of all new hire documentation is received.
  • Be proactive, think strategically, and network in search of stellar candidates for all positions.
  • Recommend system improvements to current recruitment processes to ensure streamlined, cost-effective, high-quality services are provided to hiring managers.
  • Track applicant flow, maintain pipeline of qualified candidates for future consideration, help collect and analyze recruitment data.
  • Build and maintain database of qualified professionals to rapidly respond to talent management needs.
  • Represent First Quality with professionalism, enthusiasm and energy in order to sell the organization to prospective candidates.
  • Conduct informational interviews with potential candidates.
  • Solicit and prioritize internal referrals.
  • Attend career fairs and conferences to promote First Quality and deepen the pool of potential candidates.
  • Provide information on company operations and employment opportunities to potential applicants.
  • Develop and maintain a network of recruiters, contacts and candidates via proactive use of company’s social media accounts (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Facilitating orientations bi-weekly or as needed.
  • Works with the marketing team to design billboards and social media posts.
  • Manages social media to showcase team member events, spotlights, and open positions.
  • Ensuring policies are current, in compliance with HR laws, and team members are advised of any changes.
  • Maintains electronic personnel files.
  • Collaborates with external vendors to provide team member appreciation and holiday events; works with internal management for budget approvals.
  • Facilitates team member engagement committees and provides recommendations to management.
  • Participate in team member counseling sessions and terminations.
  • Participates in harassment/disciplinary investigations.
  • Administers benefits and assists team members in resolving benefit related issues.
  • Assists team members with Family Medical Leave and Short-Term Disability.
  • Regularly spends time on production floor to be available to all team members.
  • Performs other duties as necessary when directed to do so.
  • Follows necessary GMP, FDA, and ISO regulations/guidelines.
  • Observes all safety rules and uses the proper safety equipment at all times.
