About The Position
The Machine Operator monitors assigned machines to ensure products meet company standards for safety, quality, and throughput. The role supports Pregis’ core values and follows safety programs, guidelines, and PPE requirements. Operators maintain a safe and orderly work area, inspect products, monitor measurements and quality, maintain production supplies, meet production targets, and minimize waste. They set up and adjust rewinders, palletize finished products, enter production data, sort scrap by film type, and operate a core cutting machine, vacuum lift, and pallet jack. Operators also develop knowledge of Set-up Technician skills to assist with troubleshooting, attend required meetings and safety training, and perform other assigned duties. The position is full-time and works an 8-to-8 shift. Overtime is expected based on business demand. Work takes place indoors around moving equipment, with potentially high heat, humidity, and noise. The role requires frequent standing, stooping, squatting, and lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to take coaching well and communicate respectfully with others.
- Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with the team and during shift transitions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, follow standardized work instructions, and adhere to safe work practices.
Nice To Haves
- At least one year of manufacturing experience.
- Prior knowledge of SAP or a similar ERP system.
Responsibilities
- Monitor assigned machines to ensure products meet company safety, quality, and throughput standards.
- Follow company safety programs, guidelines, rules, and PPE requirements.
- Maintain an orderly and safe work area throughout the shift.
- Physically and visually inspect products and promptly report quality defects.
- Maintain production supplies and materials to minimize downtime for the next shift.
- Continuously monitor machine operation, product measurements, and quality.
- Meet or exceed production rates, minimize waste, and meet customer requirements.
- Set up and adjust rewinders.
- Palletize skids with finished products.
- Accurately enter production reporting data into the machine computer.
- Separate scrap into the appropriate film-type gaylord.
- Operate a core cutting machine, vacuum lift, and pallet jack.
- Learn Set-up Technician skills to assist with troubleshooting when needed.
- Attend meetings and complete required safety training.
