About The Position

The Machine Operator works in the batching department at Tyson Foods’ Newbern, Tennessee facility, which produces sausage patties, sausage links, and roll sausage. The role sets up equipment for startup and operates the bowl chopper while following safety practices, food safety policies, and company policies. The position starts at $22.30 per hour, with a shift increase for second and third shifts and potential overtime. This opening is for first shift, and the facility operates five days a week. The successful candidate must be willing and able to meet the physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. The location does not accept rehires. Relocation assistance is not available.

Requirements

Have at least six months of continuous employment within the last 18 months.
Be willing and able to work for at least eight hours in temperatures at or below 35°F.
Be willing and able to pinch or grip product and place it in a specified location.
Be willing and able to perform tasks for periods of eight hours on a concrete floor, including bending, twisting, reaching, standing, stooping, walking, climbing, and lifting.
May occasionally need to lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
Be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

At least six months of relevant machine operator, warehouse, agriculture, or production experience.

Responsibilities

Set up equipment in preparation for startup.
Properly set up and operate the bowl chopper.
Order meat from the batcher in the kill department.
Order meat in the proper sequence to keep the link department running.
Distinguish material to be worked on or around and act on material to be used.
Perform other tasks as assigned by the lead person, supervisor, or superintendent.
Follow good safety practices, food safety policies, and company policies.
