About The Position

The Machine Operator works in the batching department at Tyson Foods’ Newbern, Tennessee facility, which produces sausage patties, sausage links, and roll sausage. The role sets up equipment for startup and operates the bowl chopper while following safety practices, food safety policies, and company policies. This first-shift position starts at $22.30 per hour, with a shift increase for second and third shifts and potential overtime. The facility operates five days a week.

Requirements

Be willing and able to work in temperatures at or below 35°F for at least 8 hours.
Be willing and able to pinch or grip product and place it in a specified location.
Be willing and able to perform tasks for periods of 8 hours on a concrete floor, including bending, twisting, reaching, standing, stooping, walking, climbing, and lifting.
Be willing and able to occasionally lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
Be able to perform the physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
For internal applicants: have no more than 5 attendance occurrences; no disciplinary suspension on file in the past 6 months; and meet the stated time-in-current-position requirements. Applicants for a higher-grade position may promote at any time; lateral moves or demotions require 6 months in the current position.

Responsibilities

Set up and properly operate the bowl chopper.
Order meat from the batcher in the kill department.
Order meat in the proper sequence to keep the link department running.
Distinguish material to be worked on or around and act on material to be used.
Perform other tasks as assigned by a lead person, supervisor, or superintendent.
Follow safety practices, food safety policies, and company policies.
