About The Position

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED equivalency.
• Satisfactory completion of a state-approved program in vocational nursing.
• Current license to practice in the State of California.
• Current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation certification.
• Ability to comprehend quickly and follow instructions accurately.
• Ability to communicate tactfully and empathetically, with cultural sensitivity, with staff, patients, and family members.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Willing and able to work a varied and flexible schedule.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, including principles of growth and development over the life span.
• Ability to identify and categorize each patient's age-specific group needs (infant, adolescent, adult, or geriatric).
• Fluency in English (speaks, reads and writes).
• Fluency in Spanish (speaks, interpret, reads, and writes).
• Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality about health care and other patient information.
• Ability to utilize electronic medical records effectively for intake, documentation, and scheduling.
• Willingness to submit fingerprints for a background check if located at a School Base Clinic.
• Current California driver’s license, appropriate insurance coverage, and acceptable driving record (if required to drive on the job).

Nice To Haves

• Experience in practical nursing is desirable, preferably in an ambulatory patient facility.

Responsibilities

• Provides administrative, clinical nursing, health education, and outreach services.
• Performs basic physical assessments including observation, auscultation, palpation, and percussion.
• Conducts basic mental status assessments.
• Notifies physician or Registered Nursing Supervisor of any noted problems, complications, or abnormalities.
• Cannot independently evaluate or synthesize data.
