About The Position
The Medical Lab Technician performs stat and routine clinical laboratory testing in licensed technical discipline areas under the oversight of a medical technologist and the direction of a laboratory supervisor, manager, or director. The role follows written procedures and regulatory requirements and applies a general understanding of laboratory medicine to provide timely, accurate results. Other duties may include specimen collection and processing, as well as referral testing. The technician supports department goals related to service, quality, regulatory compliance, financial performance, patient satisfaction, workplace environment, and coordination within and across departments. Employees are expected to work safely, protect privacy and integrity, provide effective customer service, manage time and priorities, cooperate with colleagues, and maintain flexibility during disasters and other emergencies. Other duties may be assigned, and employees are expected to follow the Code of Conduct and the organization’s mission and values. The position is at Syracuse Emergency Center in Syracuse, Utah, with a stated schedule of Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, 0500–1700.
Responsibilities
- Perform stat and routine clinical laboratory testing in licensed technical discipline areas.
- Follow written procedures and regulatory requirements and ensure timely, accurate results.
- Perform specimen collection, processing, and referral testing as required.
- Support department goals for service, quality, regulatory compliance, financial performance, patient satisfaction, workplace environment, and coordination across departments.
- Maintain competence, adhere to policies and procedures, and apply performance improvement standards.
- Follow company Code of Conduct standards and applicable regulatory requirements, including those concerning security, privacy, ethics, and integrity.
- Maintain a safe work environment and follow patient safety, infection control, and general workplace practices.
- Satisfy customer needs, maintain effective customer interactions, and communicate effectively.
- Prioritize and manage time to meet position responsibilities within appropriate timeframes.
- Work cooperatively with colleagues and remain flexible in performing duties during disasters and other emergencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
