Aloha~ The major functions of this position is : Provide authentic Maui Jim Prescription Sunglasses to optical retailers and provide outstanding customer service and support throughout the world. To supervise, coordinate and direct the work flow and personnel in the Rx Lab Surface, Finish and Shipping departments.

Requirements

  • 4+ years supervisory experience in an Rx Lab Finish and/or Surface Department.
  • 4+ years Rx knowledge in an optical manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lead a team.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must display courtesy and tact in handling employees.
  • Must demonstrate good teaching and mentoring/coaching skills.

  • Must have the ability to work in an organized fashion and meet deadlines.
  • Good planning/scheduling/coordinating skills necessary.
  • Microcomputer experience.
  • Ability to identify cost savings opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Continually seek improvement in every aspect of the position and departmental functions.
  • Identify and solve problems, recommend and implement process improvements.
  • Monitor the workflow and productivity through each Rx Lab department, ( Surface, Finish and Shipping ,)
  • Supervise resources to achieve consistency and maximum quality.
  • Provide guidance and direction to Team Leads and associates.
  • Ensure staff is equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to meet department standards.
  • Train employees on all department processes and procedures.
  • Provide on-going training and coaching to team regarding areas of opportunity.
  • Motivate, develop and recognize staff for their accomplishments.
  • Ensure staff is being properly cross-trained and rotating through department appropriately.
  • Develop Team Leads to their fullest potential to enhance career growth.
  • Conduct regular meetings with staff and Lab Management to communicate new developments, encourage employee feedback, coordinate activities, and discuss process improvements and changes.
  • Analyze and document breakage.
  • Trouble-shoot and resolve any quality issues as they arise.
  • Communicate findings to appropriate staff and Lab Management to resume quality.
  • Track and monitor attendance of team in accordance of company policy. This includes approving over-time , vacation and other absences, while ensuring appropriate department coverage.
  • Coordinate and work with Team Leads to provide training for all new employees.
  • Ensure all training materials are in compliance and are accurately documented and maintained.
  • Evaluate staff performance and complete annual performance evaluations.
  • Maintain all areas and equipment in a neat and orderly manner to promote a clean, organized and effective work space.
  • Ensure cleanliness of Lab is up to standards at all times.
  • Monitor supply usage and waste.
  • Work with all departments towards a mutual goal of consistent productivity and low spoilage based on standards set by Lab Manager /Lab Director.
  • Manage employee issues including, hiring, onboarding, performance and corrective actions /discipline , while maintaining lab and company policies.
  • Perform all other duties as requested and required.
