About The Position

Requirements

• Meet the Supervising Public Health Adviser qualifications through one of the listed education and experience pathways: a bachelor’s degree and two years of qualifying public health program experience; an associate degree including or supplemented by 12 semester credits in health education or health, social, or biological sciences and four years of qualifying experience; a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of qualifying experience; or equivalent education and/or experience.
• Qualifying experience involves public health program work such as case finding, case management, interviewing, investigating, or related public health work.
• At least one year of qualifying experience must be in a supervisory capacity.
• All candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of qualifying experience, including one year in a supervisory capacity.
• Undergraduate college credit may substitute for experience at 30 semester credits per year; 12 credits in health, social, or biological sciences may substitute for an additional six months of experience.
• Only permanent employees in the title and applicants reachable on the Supervising Public Health Adviser civil service list are eligible to apply.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate daily and weekly public health clinic line lists to identify individuals requiring follow-up, including STI treatment and appropriate referrals.
• Support the supervision and coordination of disease intervention activities carried out by Public Health Advisors, ensuring effective and timely responses.
• Conduct and coordinate partner-services interviews with patients diagnosed with reportable sexually transmitted infections, following public health guidelines and confidentiality requirements.
• Assist with assigning and distributing patients among Public Health Advisors across multiple health clinics to promote equitable workload distribution and timely case management.
• Assist and support clinic staff with disease intervention protocols, patient follow-up, and documentation requirements.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation in public health information systems while complying with federal, state, and local confidentiality regulations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within and outside the agency to improve access to prevention, treatment, and supportive services.
• Support and participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff meetings, and training sessions to strengthen program effectiveness and service delivery.
• Help ensure staff receive and complete required training and refreshers so client information and services remain accurate and up to date.
• Seek out and participate in relevant and innovative presentations and training opportunities to advance the Bureau’s mission.
• Perform other related duties.
