About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of verifiable hands-on experience in repair, assembly, product testing, or use of small hand tools, or equivalent transferable experience. Examples include carpentry, sterile processing, industrial sewing, jewelry repair, maintenance, machining, tool and die, mechanical repair, construction, small engine repair, cell phone/PC/tablet repair, testing and rebuilds, circuit board assembly, fabrication, welding, or automotive repair.
• Related technical or mechanical certifications, competitive equipment training, or related military experience may be considered toward the experience requirement.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds at times and push instrument rolling carts weighing up to 150 pounds at times.
• Ability to work flexible schedules with early or late hours, sometimes outside normal business hours, including nights and weekends, based on customer needs.
• At least 21 years old and able to meet FMCSA/DOT and driver’s license requirements.
• Ability to pass a DOT medical/physical exam, comply with DOT regulations, and conduct basic box truck safety checks.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; CDL required where applicable.
• Must complete a 7-year driving record check as part of onboarding if offered the position.

Nice To Haves

• Previous surgical instrument repair experience is not required; transferable hands-on repair, assembly, testing, or small-tool experience is relevant.
• Related certifications in a technical or mechanical area, competitive equipment training, or related military experience may count toward the experience requirement.
• CDL, where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, and refurbish surgical instruments at customer sites or regional labs.
• Perform basic instrument repair and maintenance, including ultrasonic cleaning, buffing and polishing, bending, shaping, sharpening, hinge-point and serration work, and brazing.
• Provide invoices, work orders, and daily documentation in accordance with customer reporting and contractual and regulatory requirements, including end-of-day reporting such as the OAR.
• Complete Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMI) as needed, within training and capability level.
• Safely operate the On Location repair truck and follow DOT, company, and customer vehicle and equipment safety protocols.
• Follow company safety and health policies, use personal protective equipment, and complete safety observations required by the site.
• Travel daily in a company vehicle and provide support to locations throughout the assigned territory based on service agreements, customer needs, and staffing levels.
• Make frequent trips inside hospitals while primarily working inside a mobile repair truck.
